How do you store your makeup?
We’ve all been there. Rushing around the house trying to get ready, and all you have to do is find that lipstick in your favourite shade of pink. But where is it? No where to be found!
You’ve searched through your draw, your make up bag and handbag but come up with nothing. Nine times out of ten make-up is usually where you’ve already looked but you’ve got so many other lipsticks, eyeliners, mascaras and brushes it’s like searching for the forest in the trees.
Our beauty therapists have years of experience in the beauty industry, and in that time, we’ve found our favourite ways to store our make-up, so we always know where our favourite products are.
BEAUTY THERAPIST TIP ONE FOR STORING YOUR MAKE-UP
First, we suggest a clean out of your make-up bags and draws. Why? Because make-up can actually expire! It can also hold bacteria which means you end up putting bacteria on your face! A good way to tell if your make-up should take a trip to the bin is if it smells funny, changes colour or isn’t applying as easily or providing a long-lasting coverage.
More specifically eyeliner should be replaced every 6 months, mascara every 3-6 months, powder cosmetics 1-2 years, foundations 6 months-2 years and lipstick every 2 years.
Now your make-up collection is free from any products you don’t use anymore and any expired products its time for tip two.
BEAUTY THERAPIST TIP TWO FOR STORING YOUR MAKE-UP
Find a clear storage container, rather than a make-up box you can’t see into. That way you can see at a glance where your things are, rather than having to open each compartment before you can spot what you’re looking for. You can find heaps of awesome clear sets of drawers specifically designed for make-up storage online.
BEAUTY THERAPIST TIP THREE FOR STORING YOUR MAKE-UP
Before you start putting your make-up in your beautiful new organiser, separate your make-up into categories. You can do this by product type, but we also suggest having a draw specifically for your favourite products, so you have them all in one spot.
